Engaged!

How lucky can I be? I have a great family who is always there for me, the best friends you could ask for and now I am going to marry the man of my dreams.

I know that is a very common comment that women say about their future husbands, but it is true.

When John and I first met I knew there was something different about him, in a good way. He didn't make me feel uncomfortable, which was a common feeling I had on many dates in the past.
He let me be my goofy self and that is so important to me. He also didn't let me slip away. I had always put my career before anything else and didn't let anyone in. Well John was determined and I am so glad he didn't give up.
This is the man I had been waiting for the past 31 years of my life and I can not wait to see what the next 30+ years bring us. I have found my love, my happiness and new path.

The news always turns good news into bad

Why can't the DOW be rising because of something good? Why does the news have to put a negative spin on EVERYTHING!!!

80's Barstool no more!

I recently moved into my boyfriend’s condo, yes you heard me. I moved into HIS place. Yikes!

At first I was hesitant, because it's totally not my place and it's not an extremely large! Oh, and did I mention that there is only one bathroom? Ugh!

Who am I kidding? I wasn’t hesitant because it not a ton of room, or there was only one bathroom. I was hesitant because it was a man cave! Nothing about it was pretty, girly or mine!

In order to make this place feel like it too was my home I needed to make some changes, some small and some large! This was going to take a lot and I mean A LOT of work and convincing.

After many discussions on the issue my fabulous boyfriend assured me that I could do whatever I wanted to the place, except paint over two walls. No big deal, because I could live with the two red walls, because I was going to paint every other wall in the place!

Given the economic times and my sanity I decided to tackle one room at a time and with smaller projects, so I started in the living/dining room and with his retro bar stools.

The two 80's looking bar stools looked so outdated and I thought: "I work for a paint company! A little paint and stain will make them look like new!" So that’s what I did.
I sanded down the legs and repainted them with a silver metallic paint, and sanded down the wooden tops and stained them with a cabernet color.

The end result is amazing. I only spent money on the paint and sandpaper! Not to mention that I didn’t just throw something that was actually useful into a landfill, so I felt a little bit green that day!

Now what to do next??? :)

(I used Rust-Oleum Universal Silver Metallic, and Varathane Stain and Poly Spray-Cabernet)
